The mandate of the #wecanalldraw workshops is to stimulate students’ creativities and imagination through various methods of drawing. Workshop sessions cover slideshow presentations and drawing exercises that will lead to finished projects. The core teaching approach is to cultivate students’ observational and story telling skills to express and compose their ideas visually through lines, shapes and colors using oil pastels, Colour pencils and collage. The first #wecanalldraw workshop took place in Richmond, BC from April 23 to June 4, 2016. It comprised 6 sessions of 45 minute studio time in a small group format of 4-6 students. The exhibition features works by 4 students (age 6-8) whom completed all 6 sessions. The exhibition will be at The Taste and See Shop from June 28 to July 31, 2016. Viewers are encouraged to nominate their pieces (up to 3 pieces per viewer) in the show with red stickers as a way to give feedback and show support for these children’s creative effort.
